Sub-Regional Choice Based Lettings
 

The Government has set a target for all Local Authorities within the whole of England to be covered by Choice Based Lettings Schemes by 2010.  A partnership of North Nottinghamshire local authorities has secured £145,000 of government funding to launch a project that will change the way people access housing in the county.

The Sherwood Forest Sub-Regional Partnership comprising of Ashfield District Council and Mansfield District Council have been developing a single lettings scheme to cover the two areas.

The scheme should be up and running by late 2010 and it will enable all Local Authorities and Registered Social Landlords to operate under one lettings scheme.

The scheme will operate a needs based waiting list (rather than a points based one) and applicants would fill in only ONE application form, which would register them for properties with ALL of the Councils and Registered Social Landlords in the View Point partnership. 

A Common Allocations Policy has been produced and the councils and their partners are now consulting applicants currently on their housing waiting lists and the public on the detail of the scheme. Attached below are downloadable copies of the consultation documents.
